These days, couples invest a huge amount of time, energy and resources into their wedding, which lasts only a day, but rarely do they invest so heavily in their marriage; which lasts a lifetime. At Saint Michael’s, we firmly believe in marriage and want to provide you with the best start possible. This is why we offer Marriage Preparation rather than Wedding preparation; they are not the same thing!
This year, the Marriage Preparation Course will be held at Saint Michael’s, Bramcote, and will comprise 6 weekly sessions, commencing on Tuesday, February 17th. The last session will take the form of a special candlelit supper, where there will be an opportunity for couples to ask any remaining questions they may have. Each session will run between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
The Marriage Preparation Course is intended primarily for couples considering marriage, and those recently married, who wish to build a strong and lasting relationship. Whilst firmly based upon Christian principles, the course is relevant and helpful for any couple, regardless of whether they have a Christian faith or church background.
The evenings are designed to be very relaxed and informal. Light refreshments are provided before and during each session. You sit with your partner, watch a DVD presentation and work through a number of exercises together. There are no group discussions, and absolutely no requirement for you to disclose anything about your relationship unless, or course, you wish to do so.
Topics covered by the course, include:
• Resolving conflict
• Keeping love alive
• Shared values
